Projects ContGOAT, SHEEP & POULTRY PROJECT
CMRF as part of its poverty reduction strategy in the Upper East Region has embarked on a goat/sheep project where rural women are given a female goat each for rearing. The aim of the project is to introduce ‘HE’ Sahelian breed of goats and sheep to the communities and to assist the women to raise the animals to supplement their incomes. .Communities selected is based on areas where churches have been planted to help spread the gospel. Vision extends to cattle ranch.
Objectives
The project started with 2 projects i.e. a demonstration farm where the animals are reared (local female goats & Sahelian Billy goats which are robust and bigger) were crossed for a better stock of offspring
First Phase
Twenty (20) families were selected for phase; family heads (men) were given Billy goats & women given the female local goat.
Conditions
Progress
The project was able to retrieve fifteen (15) more female goats from phase one families and these have enabled fifteen more families in other communities to join the project. A total of 35 families are now part of the project with a Veterinary officer (Francis Kudepema.) attached who takes care of their health needs. There is also a farm manager, Raji Anong who takes care of the demonstration farm. Due to the high demand from other communities, we need a second demonstration farm to meet the great need. This will cost a total of four thousand dollars( $4200) which includes construction of a new pen costing three thousand dollars ($ 3000) and purchase of animals( goats & sheep) costing one thousand two hundred dollars( $1200)
DRIP IRRIGATION

The project started with twenty (20) farmers. A hand dug well was built for them to begin with. They harvested vegetable, gains and were able to sell. This continued for 3 years.
Challenges
